Many places of worship are central to the community and can often be used for other communal activities. The size of the space, the interior and use of the church can all have an impact on the acoustic quality. Hard reflective surfaces and a lack of soft furnishings often result in poor acoustics, especially when a number of people are gathered together.

Sound absorption solutions such as acoustic wall panels, ceiling rafts and ceiling baffles can easily be added to any place of worship to reduce the amount of echo reverberating around the room.

Below is a selection of styles and solutions for reducing sound reverberation and echo within any church space. This results in lower volumes of noise and an increase in the clarity of sound providing a quieter, more peaceful environment.

Sound Absorption FAQs

  • What is the difference between sound absorption and soundproofing?

Soundproofing is trying to stop sound from getting into, or out of a room. E.g. blocking the sound from noisy neighbours. Sound absorption is making the acoustics within a room sound better, by reducing the amount of echo and reverberation.

  • How does sound absorption work?

The soft materials used in our sound absorption panels are designed to absorb sound energy. This means when a sound wave hits the panel it stays there and doesn't bounce back into the room.

Learn More About How Sound Absorption Works

  • Can the sound absorption panels be customised?

Depending on the type of panel, they are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. (In some instances with over 60 colours to choose from). Bespoke panels and designs can also be made

  • How many panels will I need?

The amount of panels needed is based on the dimensions of the room, the surface material and reverberation time. The quantity of panels to bring the reverberation time down is then calculated accordingly.

  • Are sound absorption products easy to install?

The sound absorption panels are extremely easy to install. No specialist tools are required and 95% are installed by customers themselves. Alternatively, a DIYer or local tradesperson would have no difficulty installing them.

  • Can I attach paper to the panels to use as a message board?

Yes, the foam panels can be used as a pin board.
