Sound Absorption FAQs

  • What is the difference between sound absorption and soundproofing?

Soundproofing is trying to stop sound from getting into, or out of a room. E.g. blocking the sound from noisy neighbours. Sound absorption is making the acoustics within a room sound better, by reducing the amount of echo and reverberation.

  • How do acoustic timber slatted panels work?

The acoustic felt within the timber slatted panels is designed to dampen sound by absorbing sound energy and stopping this energy from continuing to bounce around the room. This also helps to remove reverberation within the room.

  • Can the acoustic timber slatted panels be customised?

The panels are available in 5 colour options which can be used on their own, or combined together.

Panels can also be cut using a saw, or knife for the felt.

  • Are acoustic timber slatted panels easy to install?

Absolutely, they are very easy to install and have been developed so that usually everyone can mount them themselves. A comprehensive installation guide can be downloaded from the website and we are more than happy to answer any questions. However, you can also hire a local tradesperson to install the panels if you wanted to.

  • How many panels will I need?

The more panels used, the better the room acoustics will be. This is totally dependent on how many you would like to use, or the design of the panels within the room. The full wall or ceiling can be covered to maximise performance.

  • What type of screws will I need?

This depends on your wall type. It is also recommended to use screws in the black colour of the felt. Screw size of 35mm and a recommended 16 screws per board.
